The name? We know—it’s funny! This fabulous piece got its name from a quick-witted comment at the mom-and-pop shop in NYC that handles all our sewing. When Kimberly walked in to ask the pattern maker to create a version of an ’80s suit jacket she’d discovered in a secondhand shop in rural South Carolina, one of the guys exclaimed, “That looks like my homecoming jacket for prom!” And just like that, the name stuck.
Of course, the design has been updated. The V neckline has been raised for a more modern feel, a French cuff adds an elegant touch, and we swapped buttons for a charming grosgrain ribbon closure.
This jacket is a head-turner, no doubt about it. Kimberly has been wearing the samples around town to test the fit and feel—and let’s just say the reactions have been everything we hoped for. Strangers asking, “Where did you get that?” Yes, please! Production has been rushed because we know this one’s a winner.
